Intuitive Eating - a Non-diet Approach
What is Intuitive Eating?
Intuitive eating is a gentle, non-diet approach to food that focuses on listening to your body rather than following external rules or restrictions. It encourages you to trust your body’s natural signals of hunger, fullness, and satisfaction, and to respond to them with care and respect.
Instead of categorising foods as “good” or “bad,” intuitive eating supports a balanced, flexible relationship with food. The aim is to move away from dieting and food guilt, and towards nourishment, enjoyment, and wellbeing.
Key elements of intuitive eating include:
Making food choices based on both nourishment and satisfaction
Tuning into physical hunger and fullness cues
Letting go of rigid food rules and diet culture
Developing a kinder, more compassionate relationship with food and your body
Intuitive eating is not about weight loss. It is about supporting physical and emotional health, improving trust in your body, and creating a sustainable, respectful relationship with food.
